Collaboration with Penny Lane Centers
Dear Dojo Community,
We are pleased to announce a collaboration with Penny Lane Centers, one of the largest social service organizations in California. Founded in 1969, their staff of over 600 work with professionals, community partners and government agencies to help over 3000 people daily across Los Angeles County out of 5 locations, with their North Hills location situated just down the street from the dojo.
The first stage of our collaboration is awareness building. When a crisis strikes, its sudden nature can cause a sense of being not only helpless but alone. Penny Lane Centers can provide assistance through their 24 hour hotline. Regardless of the nature of the crisis – whether job loss, eviction notice, domestic violence, substance abuse, or mental health – their dispatch team will find the appropriate agency and resources to help create both a path forward and a sense of support. While we hope you never need their services, we hope you remember they are always available.
To speak with a counselor to help find resources appropriate to your situation, call Penny Lane Centers at

An array of fliers with information about both PLC and partner service providers are available at the bottom on this announcement and hard copies will be posted to the Parent’s Board at the back of the dojo.
The collaboration with Penny Lane Centers is personally meaningful to Chung-sensei, who comes from a family of public/mental health and family counseling professionals. They have kindly posted about our dojo in their monthly newsletter, and we look forward to further developments in this collaboration.
