Park Testing

The next testing for belt promotion will be on Saturday June 11th and will be a very special event.
Usually testing occurs at our affiliate partner school Ken Nagayama Martial Arts in Burbank, but this one will take place at North Hollywood Park (directions forthcoming).
The event will entail 3 parts:
- Group Photo @ 8:00 AM: all students, including those not testing, are encouraged to participate. Please arrive on time and in uniform. Photos will be available for sale a few weeks after testing.
- Testing @ 8:30 AM: students who are testing should be ready to start testing immediately after the photo. Students not testing can change clothing and are encouraged to stay to watch and support their classmates.
- Pot Luck Picnic (rest of day): after testing, all students and families are welcome to eat with and get to know the entire KNMA and DC Dojo community.
Once again, ALL students are welcome and encouraged to attend. If you’ve been to KNMA school in Burbank, you can see photos taken every year since the studio opened in 1988. COVID lockdown was the first ever interruption, and this is our first Park Testing back, as well as the first one since Dragon and Crane Dojo opened, so this will be a momentous occasion.
If you can only attend part of the event, we suggest prioritizing the photo. Also, students and families are welcome and encouraged to form carpools, both for logistical and social benefits.
Eligibility:
- Students must get permission from Mr. Chung in order to test.
- Readiness is based on attendance, mastery of material, and personal growth since starting current belt.
Registration:
- Registration and payment deadline is Friday June 10th.
- See attached doc for fees, which is inclusive of belt.
- Participation does NOT guarantee passing.
Dojo Closure:
There will be NO classes the weekend of testing at either DC Dojo or KNMA.
